It’s November 16th, which means Namaste November 2013 is at the half way point. I have really enjoyed the past 15 days of daily yoga. I have learned new things, reconnected with some old friends (fellow yogis), made good use of my YogaWorks GroupOn, and enjoyed the daily yoga ritual. I have a few things to share with y’all…
Namaste November 2013 Playlist
As you know, I think every workout is better with music. I made a playlist of tunes to listen to when practicing yoga in my “home studio”. The Surya Namaskara A & B flows are even better with tunes. Enjoy!
Strengths and Weaknesses
The consistent practice has revealed strengths and weaknesses of mine. For instance, twisting poses, provided I can find the balance, come without too much effort. On the contrary, my upper body strength is lacking (no surprise to me) so inversions are tough. My arm and shoulder fatigue is especially noticeable in 60+ minute sessions where I can barely muster the strength to pick up my yoga mat.
Well, I am pleased to report that I have gained strength in the past 15 days. I am able to do Chaturanga pushups AND complete the transition to upward facing dog! My improvement is all in the form. Two weeks ago, I did not have the strength to hold the half-way pushup and transition to upward facing dog without the help of my legs. Instead I would lower half-way, but then place my thighs on the mat before pushing up to upward facing dog. Check it out!
