We ended the year on a high note with all kinds of awesome. From sand to snow, from sun to rain – we got it all.
For the first year since starting a family, we decided to head out of town for the Holidays. The week before Christmas we headed to Maui, which was a very good call. (So good that I want to make it an annual tradition…) Hawaii is a special place for Isaac and I, but we haven’t been together in many years. It was so fun to visit again and experience it with our kids.
We got home the day after Christmas – we took a red eye and our kids (sort of) slept along the way.
Needless to say we were all ready for a nap. The very next day we woke up to freezing weather and by 11am the snow had begun to fall. Let me tell you, for these beach natives, snow in the backyard feels as unexpected as walking on the moon. No kidding. Isaac and I were genuinely freaking out. And our kids were nearly as impressed. We had so much fun romping around and throwing snowballs.
And then, a few days after the new year, the snow really dumped. And we discovered we had the best driveway ever for sledding.
