Playing around with dermae Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask from the hello, beauty bag

I use a shampoo and conditioner whose brand name sounds a lot like the word “organic”. As I browsed the aisle at Target looking for a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner that was natural, I saw a line by OGX. I silently read the label. In my head I heard, “Organic”. I thought, “surely they must be better than the rest.” I’ve been using on me and my girls ever since. And yet, it’s not organic. Not even a little bit. Their website claims to aim for sustainability and purity, but they really don’t push the envelope at all. But, by the time I discovered the truth (that OGX doesn’t mean squat) I had already fallen hard for the product because it does wonders on my kid’s curls and smells like a dream. Anyways, the moral of the story is, finding high quality products with pure ingredient can be tricky.

I don’t want the crap, the chemicals, the junk. But it’s everywhere. And it takes a lot of time to sort through, decode and cross check all the ingredients to make an informed selection. So, if we’re aiming for high quality and pure products, we have to dig deeper.

But, if you’re anything like me, you don’t want to dig. No big deal. Just draft off of someone who does! In my evolution towards safer body products, I’ve relied on a few online friends (Sarah and Andrea) whose research runs deep and whose recommendations are solid. The Whole Body department at Whole Foods Market is another great resource. They have stringent standards and will not carry a product that is not up to snuff – which applies to anything from shampoo to sunscreen to deodorant. This came in very handy when I lived downtown last year as WFM was conveniently (more like dangerously) close to our apartment. And as I ran out of face wash, moisturizer, lip balm, mascara, you name it, the Whole Body shop was my one stop shop. With the help of the Whole Body Experts, I’ve found some great alternatives that have replaced my conventional products.

Starting March 18th, Whole Foods Market is celebrating Beauty Week. Which means all facial care products will be 25% off March 18th – March 20th. The sale is nationwide, so go check it out and pick-up something new you’ve been wanting to try. And as you browse their selection, you can be sure that every single thing on their shelves is worth putting on your body. This weekend, I plan on snatching up a face wash, daily moisturizer and lip balm (for starters).

Also… the Whole Beauty Team bundled some great products into their curated hello, beauty bags. I got my hands on one last week and have been playing around with the goodies, which included my favorite mascara. The actual bag itself is fair trade, eco friendly and super cute. The value of the hello, beauty bags is $80, but WFM is selling them for only $15. They go on sale on March 18th and are in limited supply. So, stop into your Whole Foods Market and pick one up on Friday!

And the great news is, Whole Foods Market gave me two bags to share with you! So, we’re going to do a little contest here and on Instagram. The contest ends Wednesday, March 16th at 9pm. To enter to win one of the bags, follow the instructions below:

  1. Follow @HelloDayBlog on Instagram
  2. Comment here or on Instagram. In the comment, tag a friend to say, “hello, beauty!” Them a physical feature you love about them. Compliments are the best, aren’t they?

Good luck Beauties!

It happens to me all the time. If only I were one who loved the precision of research!
