I have finally found a free minute to write a brief note here. And yet, I am not sure where to pick up or what to say. My thoughts are disorganized and time is scarce. And since a pictures worth a thousand words, here you go.
Isaac landed a job at Nike. And since Nike is the closest thing I have to a celebrity crush (aside from Jillian Michaels), I’m pretty excited.
Last Friday, it was Portland-or-Bust! We made the 2.5 hour trip just fine.
We’re living in a temporary apartment in The Pearl District of Portland, pretending to be city people for a few months. The view is beautiful and sunrises spectacular.
Our temporary neighborhood is awesome (aside: awesome is a word I’m coming to find is used almost exclusively in California) and I can find anything I need… for a cost, of course. Whole Foods and Madewell are within 100 yards of my doorstep. Can you say, “trouble”?
Without a car, the girls and I have been exploring Portland on foot for the past several days. And grocery shopping on foot too.
Monday, I popped a tire on the BOB while on a long walk to the park. Luckily REI was within a mile and they got me all fixed up in no time.
When in Portland… composting seems easy enough (and everyone is doing it), so I’m giving it a go.
The sun rises at 7:45am, so it’s easy to fit in a sunrise yoga session. The sun sets at 4:45pm, so it’s easy to pull your hair out, at least between the hours of 5 and 7:30 pm. There have been a few, “We’ve got no food, we’ve got no jobs, our pets heads are falling off!” moments. But, as always, they pass.
The weather has been gorgeous (and cold). The rain has been minimal, which is
awesome fortunate, being as I have yet to buy a rain jacket and the weather cover for the BOB has not yet arrived.
I still feel like I am on a long trip in a cool town. When really, this is not a trip. This is my life. And this is my new, cool, hip, different-than-home hometown. It’s a good thing I like it so far.
