Hello Day has not been around long enough for you to know that I am a bangs girl. I love me some bangs – straight across, side swept, parted, choppy, long, rounded, squared, sautéed, broiled, etc. Most of the time, I rock one form of bangs or another. They’re a great fit for me, mostly because they make me look like I have styled my hair, without actually having styled my hair. Because, a high maintenance hair person I am not. Nope, not even a little bit. My regime consists of: wash, finger comb and air dry. That’s the full extent of it. So, bangs are an effortless way to bump up my style.
Well, what’s with the no bangs then? You ask. Yeah, about that… I have been without bangs for a few years. And oh how I have missed them. All because of postpartum hair loss – it’s a real thing, guys. Roughly 4 – 6 months after having both of my children, I lost a significant amount of hair. (Because that’s just what a mom of an infant needs, patchy bald spots. Right, a total kick in the crotch.) Whatever, it is what it is. I lost so much hair around my hairline that when I went into the salon for a cut, my hairstylist informed me that I did not have enough hair up there for bangs. Oh, cool. Thanks. Son of a bitch.
I begged and pleaded until she finally agreed to cut in some bangs – she took more hair from the crown to add thickness. It went over okay, but really I should have stuck to no bangs instead of trying to convince everyone I wasn’t balding. Case and point, check out the bald patch in the photo below. Oh, but how cute is little 6 month Vera?!
Anyways, I learned my lesson and since have put in my time. The hair has finally grown back and I am once again ready to rock my ever-loving bangs! Today, I visited my salon and got me some nice, chunky, round, stylie bangs. Aw yeah! So, you can look forward to some tips and tricks regarding the low maintenance care and feeding of sweaty bangs. Until then, yeehaw, Mama’s back!
