On the Shoulders of a Soldier

Sometimes the destination is challenging, sometimes it’s familiar, other times it’s FUN!

There is a soldier statue that I run by often. He is roughly six feet, has a helmut and gun and overlooks the bay. Something about him makes me want to climb up his back and stand on his shoulders, but I never have until today.

I set out for a 6 mile out-and-back run this morning. My destination: the shoulders of the familiar soldier.

Today, I encourage you to set your destination. And I highly recommend FUN!

And to the concerned dog walker who warned that “they” have cameras and are going to catch me: I hope they do. I have valuable input about the effectiveness of their surveillance method.

This reminds me of the concept that we stand on the shoulders of those generations that have come before us… scientifically, in medicine and technology and any other amazing thought or discovery that could help us today. The ideal soldier makes me think “courage, strength, endurance”, which are ideals I need to stand on when I workout. So, I love that you literally stood on a soldiers shoulders (well statue soldier), cool concept, and FUN!

True! I like the depth you added to it… I was SO not thinking of that in the moment, but wish I would have. “They say…”
