The holidays are upon us! My favorite happens to be Thanksgiving, but I have a huge soft spot for the festive month of December as well. The intentional gatherings with family and friends provides a chance to love and be loved in special way. During the months of November and December, there are several opportunities to spread the love beyond our own circle of friends and family too. So, every week until the end of December, we will feature one way to spread love to your neighbors. Let the festivities begin!
I made a quick produce stop at Sprouts yesterday and noticed something new. At the front of the store, they have a display of grocery bags full of food, with receipts attached to the front of each bag. It’s part of the Grab ‘n Give Food Drive – the annual food drive in which Sprouts partners with local food banks. Sprouts prepares bags for purchase, at a 10% discount, and each bag that purchased is donated to the local food bank. It’s a quick and easy way to get food where it’s needed.
The bags range from $7 – $12 and include a variety of food items. The bag I purchased contained a can of tuna, peanut butter and a few other canned goods. Second Harvest Food Bank, the local food bank in Costa Mesa area, actually relies on seasonal food drives like this one to stock up on food they distribute year round.
This is an opportunity that I am grateful to have stumbled across – I would love to support Second Harvest and having it be conveniently part of my trip to the grocery store is awesome. So, check out your local Sprouts and grab a bag!
