Thank YOU, Namaste November 2013

November ends this week, and with it goes Namaste November 2013. The daily yoga practice has been a great experience for me. I enjoyed the intentionality of finding time every single day to practice. As I hoped, I progressed in my flexibility, gained strength, had fun, and even broadened my yoga community.

YogaWorks: I truly benefited from the instructors and fellow yogi’s at YogaWorks. I took away some valuable lessons and form adjustments (e.g. proper “down dog hands”) and enjoyed the variety of instructors. I took a few classes that were way above my pay grade and was really inspired by the amazing yogis who seem to float effortlessly from pose to pose. I will certainly miss the quiet, toddler-free studio.

YogaWorks in Costa Mesa is a toddler-free zone!

Community: Since I did a lot of yoga this month, I had a lot of opportunities to invite people along with me. It was fun to practice with friends, family, yogi’s, and newbies. I went on a few YogaWorks dates with Isaac, did yoga with a bff/yogi a few times, and practiced with my toddlers quite a bit too. One of my highlights was yoga in the park last Sunday morning with my sister-in-law and mother-in-law (it was her first time)!

Tricks: I did not improve tremendously in the tricks category. This comes as no surprise to me. Now more than ever, I am convinced that it takes months, if not years, to properly perform the yoga tricks that I long to whip out (i.e. handstand, bird of paradise, flying pigeon, standing splits, etc.). In the meantime, I am working on holding this for more than 3 seconds:

#NamasteNov2013: It has been so much fun to do Namaste November 2013 with other yogi’s via Instagram. I love seeing how other people make yoga a daily practice. Thank you for sharing in this fun month with me!

Closing Ceremonies

I will wrap up Namaste November with a closing session on Saturday. I am not sure where or when, but it will be outside and it will be beautiful. Perhaps a post-practice glass of bubbly is in order too!

I will continue to integrate yoga into my weekly routine. My hope is to practice daily, even if it is a 15 minute post workout session or a restorative stretch before bed. There is benefit in all of it. And, you can bet your yoga mat that there will be a Namaste November 2014!

Now you, Yogi. Did you up the ante on your yoga practice for Namaste November? Any highlights to share?

Thanks for turning me on to YogaDownload! I love squeezing in a free, 20-min yoga session from them when I have the chance. I’m even starting to (very slowly) rope my husband into doing yoga with me. Hopefully he’ll join us next #NamasteNovember.
