Upping the Adventure Ante

Old Main Trail

In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I am a California Native. 100% Californian. More specifically, 100% Southern Californian. Actually, I have lived in the same 10 mile radius since I was 2 years old. It’s all I know guys, all I know. How tragic? Nah, it’s been pretty awesome. The sun shines on most days. It’s almost guaranteed that I will be in a bikini every single month of the year. And my entire family and friend circle is right here in my backyard. California living. I love it.

While the weather and ocean are hard to beat, its really the people that I haven’t wanted to miss. Honestly, they’re the reason I haven’t ventured out. They’re wonderful. Irreplaceable. My favorites.

Recently, Isaac and I have been craving a new venture. A change of scenery, fresh opportunity, something different. We’ve have been adventuring the past five years here in Newport – taking risks, changing careers, growing our family. But, now, we’re ready to up the ante.

So, we’re packing our little family up and upping the ante all the way to Portland in January!

OH MY GOSH. Do I finally have to buy a pair of socks that cover my ankles? Tell me! Do I?

I can barely think about how much I am going to miss my people. The tears overwhelm me. (P.S. Whose coming with us?). How can life be so bittersweet? But, it is. And so much will change, but at the same time, nothing at all will be different when it comes to my people. Because, the adventures we take are not ours alone. They belong to the people we share them with.

May our little adventure enrich not only my family of four, but my entire tribe of loved ones.

I can’t believe you’ve lived in the same 10 mile radius since you were 2, but then I get itchy feet. A lot! A new environment, a new town, different weather, new people, a new ways of doing things is great for seeing and putting things in a different perspective. Things change, people change, however new adventures, new faces, new cultures, makes us richer in more ways than one.

Good luck with the move and how fantastic is it going to be surrounded by temperate rainforests to run in and the sea to keep your California living with you?! I wish you all the best taking HelloDay up north!
