On Tuesday, I inherited a good portion of fresh caught tuna from one of my best buds. She has the great fortune of living next to a commercial fisherman, who parks his huge ass, green boat on their street. It’s all good though, because the neighbor lets them use the boat as a prop for pirate-themed birthday parties (true story) and frequently brings them his catch of the day. Which is how I came into the fresh caught goodness.
While I eat my share of spicy tuna rolls, poke, sashimi and all the rest, I have never made it myself. I had to test my hand at something other than the grill to maximize the fresh factor. I turned to Instagram for tips. One of my good buds tipped me off on a seared ahi salad from Ina Garten. With a few modifications, I ended up with an easy and ahhhmazing salad.
The recipe (here) is a must try – I am going to have to do a redo this weekend for Isaac, who wasn’t home to enjoy the first batch.
